04.10.2025 | 23:15 |Geneva/Ashgabat, October 4 | ORIENT. Turkmenistan participated in the UNECE Sustainable Energy Week, held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. A delegation led by Vekilmuhammet Ussayev, Deputy Chairman of the Turkmennebit State Concern, discussed strategic directions for the development of global and regional energy systems.
The Week's main theme was "A Just Transition to the Creation of Sustainable Energy Systems." The participation of a representative of Turkmenistan's oil and gas sector highlighted the country's strategic approach to balancing the use of hydrocarbon potential with the implementation of green technologies.
The Week focused on cooperation in the SPECA (United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia) region. The key role of energy as a basis for economic cooperation was emphasized, which is a strategic priority for Turkmenistan as a major regional supplier.
During meetings of the Committee on Sustainable Energy and expert groups, a wide range of issues directly related to the Turkmen energy modernization program were discussed: the development of renewable energy and improved energy efficiency in industry and construction; the digital transformation of energy systems and the adaptation of human resources; and sustainable mobility and access to modern technologies.
Participation in the forum allowed Turkmenistan not only to present its achievements in energy security and efficiency but also to identify strategic priorities for 2026–2027 and exchange best practices with leading experts and international organizations.
