Review of Turkmenistan's Parliamentary Activities for January–September – from a Government Meeting
04.10.2025 | 03:45 |Ashgabat, October 3 | ORIENT. At a government meeting on Friday, Mejlis Speaker Dunyagozel Gulmanova presented to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov information on the national parliament's activities for January–September of this year.
Legislative Work
During the reporting period, 16 legislative acts were adopted. These included the Constitutional Law "On the Legal Foundations of the Policy of Peace and Trust of Neutral Turkmenistan," new versions of the Civil Code and the Law "On the Court," as well as laws on the Unified State Register of Voters, on Turkmenistan's accession to international treaties, and a number of other documents.
Amendments and additions were made to existing legislation concerning criminal, civil, labor, family, and tax law, as well as migration, transportation, customs regulation, and the activities of internal affairs agencies.
International Cooperation
The Mejlis adopted 14 resolutions and the credentials of nine Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary accredited to Turkmenistan. Fifty-one meetings were held with representatives of foreign parliaments and diplomatic missions.
A significant event was the Parliamentary Forum held in Avaza as part of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Countries.
Professional Development of Members of Parliament
During the period under review, members of the Mejlis and specialists participated in 78 seminars and consultations organized jointly with international organizations, and also went for 29 official trips abroad to study best practices in legislative drafting.
