Oriented on making people closer

On May 18, Turkmenistan celebrated a national holiday – Constitution and State Flag Day. The main celebrations took place in the capital of the country, Ashgabat.

In the morning, flower-laying ceremonies were held. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in a solemn ceremony at the Monument to the Constitution. A wreath was laid on behalf of the head of state at the foot of the monument, symbolizing the foundations of statehood and the democratic foundations of the country.

Flowers were also laid at the Monument to the Constitution by the Chairman of the Mejlis, members of the Government, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, honorary elders, representatives of public organizations and other participants in the ceremony.

After this, the celebrations moved to the flagpole with the Main Flag of the country, located in the southern part of the capital. A flower-laying ceremony was also held here. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov laid a wreath at the foot of the flagpole. Then flowers were laid by all participants in the ceremony.

In the evening, a festive concert of artists dedicated to Day of the Constitution and the State Flag was held at the Ashgabat Song and Music Center. Popular vocalists, musicians, famous choreographic and folklore groups, as well as children's groups performed on the open stage in front of numerous spectators. The concert program included patriotic songs and the ancient dance kushtdepdi, which became the culmination of the evening.

The festive events in the capital emphasized the importance of the Constitution as the basis of statehood and high respect for the State Flag as the main symbol of sovereignty and unity of the people of Turkmenistan.
