$100 Billion for Superintelligence: Nvidia Invests in Next-Generation OpenAI Infrastructure

Graphics processing unit (GPU) giant Nvidia has announced plans to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI as part of a new strategic partnership.

The companies signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at building next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure for OpenAI.

Under the agreement, Nvidia will deploy systems with a total capacity of at least 10 gigawatts. This massive infrastructure will allow OpenAI to train and run the models needed to achieve its ultimate goal — the creation of superintelligence.

According to the announcement, investments of up to $100 billion will support this deployment, including the establishment of data centers and energy facilities. The project will be implemented in several phases, with the first phase scheduled to launch in the second half of 2026.

This news highlights the ongoing race among tech leaders for computing power. Earlier, on September 10, it was reported that OpenAI, the developer of the popular ChatGPT, had also reached an agreement to acquire computing resources from Oracle. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Oracle deal is valued at $300 billion over five years, underscoring the unprecedented demand for AI infrastructure.
