Turkmenistan and Romania discuss cooperation between National Commissions for UNESCO
27.03.2025 | 17:40 |On March 26, 2025, a meeting took place at the premises of the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO between the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Ms. Chynar Rustamova, and the Secretary-General of the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO, Ms. Ligia Deca.
The parties discussed prospects for cooperation between Turkmenistan and Romania in the humanitarian sphere.
Ms. Chynar Rustamova provided information on the activities of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO and elaborated on Turkmenistan's foreign policy, which is based on the principle of neutrality, as well as the history, role, and significance of Turkmenistan's neutral status in ensuring peace and stability at the regional and international levels.
In turn, representatives of the Romanian side provided information on the activities of the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO and its priority areas of work.
The parties agreed to establish a partnership between the Turkmen and Romanian National Commissions for UNESCO and considered issues related to the creation and development of a network of geoparks. Particular emphasis was placed on the organization of joint events, conferences, as well as professional development courses in areas of mutual interest.
