Trade between Russia and Turkmenistan increases by nearly a third since the beginning of the year
06.08.2025 | 14:30 |Since the start of 2025, trade turnover between Russia and Turkmenistan has grown by almost 30% compared to the same period last year. This was reported by TASS following the working visit of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev to Turkmenistan.
During his visit, Patrushev was received by the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The parties underscored the high level of bilateral cooperation, which is based on the principles of strategic partnership. According to Patrushev, the strengthening of trade and economic ties between the two countries is confirmed by the significant growth in mutual trade and a readiness for further expansion of cooperation.
The agricultural sector remains a key area, with a positive trend recorded in the supply of agricultural products. Russia expressed its readiness to increase the volume of food and mineral fertilizer exports to Turkmenistan.
During the trip, the Deputy Prime Minister also met with the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The main focus of the discussions was on the development of trade, economic, and environmental cooperation, particularly joint efforts to preserve the Caspian Sea.
The Russian side's interest in expanding dialogue on areas such as environmental protection, geology, and sustainable subsoil use was also noted.
