 President of Turkmenistan Congratulates Fellow Citizens on International Day of Older Persons

The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedow, addressed a congratulatory message to elders, mothers, and all citizens of the country on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons.

In his address, the head of state emphasized that respect for the older generation, their advice, and guidance is a longstanding tradition of the Turkmen people. The President noted that a series of events is being held in honor of older persons, including musical and cultural celebrations in Ashgabat, Arkadag, and other regions.

Serdar Berdimuhamedow recalled that the state’s policy is aimed at improving the social and living standards of the population, particularly for the senior generation. He highlighted the implementation of Turkmenistan’s national socio-economic development programs for 2022–2052, programs for 2022–2028, and a special program to improve living conditions in villages, towns, and district centers.

The address also noted that elders play an important role in strengthening national unity and educating youth in the spirit of patriotism and humanism. In this regard, the honorary title “Hormatly il ýaşulusy” and the “Zenan kalby” order are being awarded to senior citizens for their contributions to society’s development.

The President also referred to decisions made at the session of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat ahead of Independence Day, which relate to the country’s further development.

In conclusion, Serdar Berdimuhamedow wished older persons health, longevity, and well-being.
