 The head of the MFA of Turkmenistan discussed issues of bilateral partnership with the President of Uzbekistan

On January 27, Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Rashid Meredov conveyed greetings from President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Uzbek leader.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the development and strengthening of relations of friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership. The dynamic growth of trade turnover was noted, which exceeded $1.1 billion in 2024, as reported on the website of the President of Uzbekistan.

A joint border trade zone "Shavat-Dashoguz" is being created. Close and mutually beneficial cooperation continues in the fields of industrial cooperation, energy, transport and logistics, agriculture, and water management. Interregional contacts and cultural and humanitarian exchange are expanding.

Particular attention was paid to the formation of a new comprehensive agenda for multifaceted partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, the preparation of upcoming high-level visits, the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of the region, and summits in the "Central Asia plus" format.

The program of Rashid Meredov's visit to Tashkent includes the holding of the next Turkmen-Uzbek political consultations.
