An international conference was held in Paris to mark the 950th anniversary of the work "Divan Lugat at-Turk"
16.12.2024 | 15:12 |The Turkmen delegation participated in the international conference titled "Drawing the World Map in Textology: On the 950th Anniversary of the Work "Divan Lugat at-Turk" ("Dictionary of Turkic Dialects")."
The event took place at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris and was organized by the National Commission of Azerbaijan for UNESCO.
Representatives from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Hungary, and other countries also took part in the conference. Participants discussed the historical and cultural significance of the work of the outstanding 11th-century philologist Mahmud al-Kashgari, "Divan Lugat at-Turk".
As part of the conference, a documentary film about "Divan Lugat al-Turk" was screened, a thematic exhibition was held, and translations of the book "Divan Lugat al-Turk" by Said Khodzhayev in Azerbaijani and Zifa-Alua Auezova in Russian were presented. The books were published by the Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation.
The encyclopedic work "Divan Lugat at-Turk" demonstrates the beauty of culture through the rich vocabulary of the Turkic language. The book is also the first textbook on Turkic language grammar and represents an encyclopedia of civilization, providing insight into Turkic tribes and the geography of Turkestan, offering unique knowledge about Turkic mythology, folklore, everyday life, and customs of Turkic society.
