29th Anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality Status
13.12.2024 | 13:15 |On December 12th, Turkmenistan widely celebrated the International Neutrality Day and the 29th anniversary of the country’s attainment of the status of permanent neutrality.
The legal status of permanent neutrality, which has been recognized twice by the United Nations, is a great value to our people and represents a doctrine that promotes peaceful living, friendship, and brotherhood between nations, humanitarianism, and mutually beneficial cooperation.
The esteemed President laid a wreath at the foot of the Neutrality Monument, erected as a symbol of peace, goodness, and the humane principles of our people. This unique legal status of our country, fully aligned with national spiritual and moral values developed over centuries, opens up vast opportunities for the successful implementation of initiatives for peace and sustainable development in the international arena.
Our neutral country, in order to ensure the well-being and sustainable development of all, is effectively cooperating with countries around the world and authoritative international organizations, primarily with the United Nations.
Our country is developing partnerships with all interested nations and esteemed international organizations, based on the fundamental principles of permanent neutrality, recognized by the international community and enshrined in Turkmenistan's Constitution. This is clearly evidenced by the qualitatively new level of cooperation with specialized UN agencies, including the Development Program, UNESCO, the UN Population Fund, UNICEF, and the World Health Organization.
Turkmenistan is also making the necessary efforts to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals. At the same time, particular attention is given to cooperation in areas such as energy security, sustainable transportation, climate change, and other fields. The initiatives of our country in these areas receive broad support from the international community.
