The Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan held a meeting with the Special Representative of Finland to the OSCE

On Monday, September 8, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting between Minister Rashid Meredov and Special Representative of Finland to the OSCE, Teri Hakala. The talks focused on multilateral cooperation, strengthening dialogue and coordinating joint efforts.

The Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude to Ms. Hakala for her personal contribution to the development of a constructive partnership (in 2021-2024, she served as the Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia).

The parties discussed fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE in three key areas. These include strengthening dialogue and security in the political dimension, implementing joint projects in the economic and environmental spheres, as well as the humanitarian track, including the exchange of experience in the field of human rights and the rule of law.

It was particularly emphasized that the priorities of Finland, which chairs the OSCE in the year of the 50th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act, are in line with the neutral foreign policy of Turkmenistan. This includes promoting dialogue and trust, including within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust proclaimed by the UN General Assembly.

During the meeting, the importance of cooperation in ensuring energy development, security and transport connectivity was also noted, which is a priority for Turkmenistan.
