The design of the first Russian hydrogen train has been unveiled
01.09.2025 | 16:30 |Transmashholding Company has unveiled the design of Russia's first hydrogen-powered train. According to company representatives, the primary objective was to create an innovative and dynamic aesthetic that underscores the transport's environmental credentials. A key feature of the train is that its power plant generates only water vapor.
The exterior of the train is designed in accordance with the "Brand DNA" concept, incorporating diagonal and straight lines in shades of blue, gray, and black. The front section of the train is accented with red elements.
The project anticipates that the train will have an operational range of 435 km on hydrogen and 40 km on batteries. Maximum passenger capacity, depending on the configuration, will range from 551 to 875 passengers. Two trains for suburban service, including on Sakhalin, are scheduled for production in 2026. Transmashholding is developing the project in collaboration with Russian Railways (RZD).
