 TAPI and TAP in focus of meeting of energy ministers of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan

A meeting was held in Kabul between Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan Annageldi Saparov, head of international energy projects of Turkmenistan Murad Artykov and Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Afghanistan Abdul Latif Mansur. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador of Turkmenistan Hoja Ovezov.

The main focus of the meeting was on discussing ways to expand cooperation in the areas of: transmission of 1000 MW of electricity from Turkmenistan to Kabul, accelerating the implementation of the TAP-500 energy bridge project, which will ensure the supply of Turkmen electricity to Pakistan and Afghanistan, and interaction in the implementation of the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) project.

At the meeting, the Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan expressed sympathy in connection with the recent earthquake in the eastern provinces of Afghanistan and declared his country's full readiness to promote the agreed projects. He emphasized that the preparatory work on the international TAP power transmission project is progressing successfully.

The Afghan minister, in turn, emphasized his country's commitment to implementing joint energy development projects and interest in strengthening the partnership, AVA reported on Sunday.
