 Ashgabat and Kabul are Accelerating Major Infrastructure Projects, with TAPI and TAP in Focus

A meeting held in Ashgabat confirmed the active development of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Akhmad Gurbanov held talks with Ambassador of Afghanistan to Turkmenistan Fazl Mohammad Saber. This was reported by Bakhtar news (BNA), citing the Embassy of Afghanistan in Ashgabat.

A wide range of areas of bilateral cooperation were discussed during the constructive dialogue. Particular attention was paid to strengthening the political, economic and strategic partnership between the two countries.

The key topics of the talks included: the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) gas pipeline project - its strategic importance for both the region's energy security and the economic development of all participants was noted;

plans for the development of railway networks - prospects for expanding transport and logistics communications, which will contribute to the increase in freight flows, were considered;

the TAP (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan) initiative - the construction of power transmission lines and fiber-optic communications will strengthen regional integration and infrastructure development.

The parties also touched upon important aspects of trade facilitation aimed at increasing trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.

Special attention was paid to the provision of services to Afghan migrants living in Turkmenistan, which emphasizes the humanitarian aspect of bilateral relations.
