The National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan Strengthens International Cooperation
06.09.2025 | 09:00 |A meeting of the heads of the National Societies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent of the CIS countries, as well as representatives of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross, concluded in Ashgabat.
During the meeting, memoranda of understanding were signed between the National Society of the Turkmenistan Red Crescent and the Qatar Red Crescent Society, as well as between the National Society of the Turkmenistan Red Crescent and the Russian Red Cross. The documents are aimed at developing cooperation in the humanitarian field and volunteer activities.
Vice President of the Qatar Red Crescent Society, Ebrahim Hashim Al-Sada, stated that the memorandum creates opportunities for experience exchange and expanding cooperation in Central Asia. Chairman of the Russian Red Cross, Pavel Savchuk, noted that Russia’s experience in responding to emergencies will be useful for Turkmen colleagues, including training in the operation of mobile units and tents.
The two-day meeting was held under the motto “International Year of Peace and Trust – Humanism and Neutrality.” Participants discussed the development of National Societies, international humanitarian law, volunteer engagement, and legislative regulation. The event was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality and the International Year of Peace and Trust.
