The Presidents of Turkmenistan and Mongolia held talks in Ulaanbaatar
02.06.2025 | 13:35 |Today, on June 2, an official welcoming ceremony for President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov was held in Ulaanbaatar. The distinguished guest was welcomed by President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh. After the ceremony, the heads of the two states held official talks, during which they discussed the achievements in relations between Mongolia and Turkmenistan over the past 30 years, and also considered the prospects and priorities for the development of bilateral cooperation in the coming years, with an emphasis on its economic component.
President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the friendly ties that Mongolia has developed with the countries of Central Asia, especially Turkmenistan, as well as expanding and developing cooperation in all areas. The head of the Mongolian state expressed confidence that mutual state visits will further strengthen the friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed satisfaction with his first state visit to Mongolia and stressed that cooperation between the two countries has intensified in many areas since the visit of Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh to Turkmenistan in 2024.
It was expressed satisfaction that the agreements reached during the talks in Ashgabat last year have begun to be implemented in practice. The parties welcomed the signing of agreements and understandings between the Governments and organizations of the two countries and agreed to further strengthen the legal framework for bilateral relations, as well as to enrich and expand cooperation in trade, economics, agriculture, light industry, science, education and healthcare.
The role of the intergovernmental commission on cooperation was also noted and the importance of creating a joint committee on automobile transport to expand transport links and develop logistics, the relevant committees on agriculture, veterinary medicine and livestock farming was emphasized, the MONTSAME news agency reported.
The parties agreed to jointly implement projects and programs in the field of light industry in the context of increasing trade between the two countries and expanding the export-import range.
In order to deepen ties in the fields of education, science and culture, the parties agreed to work together to encourage cooperation between universities, include Mongolian and Turkmen students in scholarship programs of the governments of the two countries, train qualified personnel and organize cultural events.
The heads of state confirmed mutual support for proposals and initiatives put forward by the parties in the international and regional arenas, and active cooperation within the framework of international organizations in the field of environmental protection, forests, water resources, as well as the fight against global climate change and desertification.
