 The Turkmen weightlifter won a bronze medal at the Junior World Championship in Albania

Turkmen weightlifter Gulyalek Kakamuradova won a bronze medal at the 2023 World Youth Championship, which is being held in Durres (Albania).

Kakamuradova was awarded the bronze medal in the snatch in the weight category up to 64 kg . After the first exercise, the Turkmen weightlifter became the third (88 kg) behind the Kazakh athlete Taisiya Alekseeva (89 kg) and 5 kg – Saetiya Tanaporn (93 kg) from Thailand.

However, in the push, Gulyalek managed to lift 101 kg, eventually taking 5th place (189 kg in the total of exercises).

After five days of competition, the national team of Turkmenistan with 10 medals (6 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze) was placed on the second line of the team standings, second only to the team of the Philippines, which has 12 medals (7 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze).

Recall that the Turkmen national team is represented by nine weightlifters at the current tournament.

The men 's team was formed by: Nurbek Azamatov (weight category up to 49 kg), Perhat Bagtyyarov (up to 61 kg), Didarbek Jumabayev (up to 67 kg) and Suleyman Jafarov (up to 96 kg).

The women's team included: Shebnam Kerimbayeva (up to 40 kg), Ogulshat Amanova (up to 45 kg), Medine Amanova (up to 59 kg), Gulyalek Kakamyradova (up to 64 kg) and Anamjan Rustamova (up to 81 kg).

The Junior World Weightlifting Championship is an annual competition held under the auspices of the IWF. The current tournament brought together over three hundred weightlifters from 61 countries aged 13 to 17 years, who are contesting medals in 20 weight categories. The championship, which started on March 25, will end on April 1.
