Turkmen fashion is in focus of Italian fashion magazines Vogue and Wondernet

The Italian Vogue magazine published an article on March 24 titled “I was in Turkmenistan to see how local traditional fashion opens up to the world” dedicated to the Turkmenistan Fashion Project.

The author of the article, Giulio Solfrizzi, visited Ashgabat, the “White City” of Central Asia and the capital of Turkmenistan, to study the prospects for the development of national fashion in the international arena.

The author describes the architectural appearance of Ashgabat, combining snow-white and gold tones with unusual illumination, creating a unique atmosphere. The article also focuses on the traditional women's costume of Turkmenistan, characterized by an abundance of embroidered patterns. The author suggests that in the future, Turkmenistan may become a significant player in the fashion world.

From March 17 to 19, 2025, Ashgabat hosted the Turkmenistan Fashion Project, a three-day event that included shows by local brands and performances by special guests, including Western designers.

The main goal of the project was to promote the culture of Turkmenistan through clothing and fabrics steeped in history, as well as to establish a dialogue between local weaving traditions and Western fashion.

Another Italian fashion publication, the online magazine Wondernet Magazine, also published an article about this project. The article, titled “Turkmenistan Fashion Project: Ashgabat celebrates Turkmen style,” tells about the event, which is designed to promote Turkmen fashion and culture on the international stage.

The article highlights that the project was a three-day initiative aimed at promoting the unique Turkmen style to the world. The author suggests that the Turkmenistan Fashion Project has the potential to attract international attention to Turkmenistan's fashion scene.

Both publications agree that the Turkmenistan Fashion Project was an important step in presenting Turkmenistan's rich cultural heritage through a modern interpretation of traditional clothing and textiles, as well as in establishing a dialogue between local designers and Western fashion representatives.
