Symphonic Spring – a concert at TNC gave a sunny mood

One of the most memorable events of this month at the Turkmen National Conservatory named after Maya Kulieva was the performance of the chamber orchestra under the direction of conductor Nury Mukhiyev and his student Kovus Byashimov. The concert was dedicated to the celebration of Novruz Bayram.

The musical program included "Destan-concert" by Chary Nurymov, Concertino "Yilgaylar" by Bayram Khudainazarov, as well as "Melancholy" by Eduard Napravnik, the violin concerto by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the orchestral suite from his opera "Eugene Onegin".

At first glance, a standard classical program with diverse and multi-genre works. However... On this March evening, everything was perceived through the prism of a spring mood.

Remember how Kipling said? "It is the sound of spring, the vibrating sound that is not made by bees, not by falling water, not by wind in the trees, but by the purring of a warm, happy world."

The orchestra performed Nurymov's "Destan-concert" and Khudainazarov's Concertino in one breath, swiftly and easily, like the running of spring streams. And then, like a huge March cat basking in the sun, it tenderly purred Napravnik's melody. And then suddenly Tchaikovsky, with his winter landscapes of St. Petersburg. But even here there was an excuse for him! Yes, the events in Eugene Onegin take place mainly in the fall and winter. You can't argue with that. But the premiere of this legendary opera took place in the spring, in March 1879.

As for Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, it reflected the state of mind of the composer, who had overcome a spiritual crisis. The composition dazzles with its optimism. Although Tchaikovsky worked on this piece in winter, it clearly has a "spring" mood, a spiritual uplift.

In general, from the point of view of a person who loves and is very much looking forward to the arrival of spring, the music of each of the composers presented that evening simply oozed with the sounds of spring and nature. In the wonderful melodies one could hear the singing of birds, the breath of the breeze, the spring drip, the rustle of flowering plants, the buzzing of insects. Moreover, the bright, red dresses of the female musicians were like scarlet poppies against the background of the dark tuxedos of the male orchestra members. The maestro, conductor Nury Mukhiyev and his young comrade-in-arms Kovus were also infected with spring inspiration.

Soloists - laureates of international competitions violinist Aybolek Mukhiyeva, trombonist Dovran Gylydzhov, flutist Nepes Dzhumageldyev and oboist Kuvvat Orazov surpassed themselves that evening.

The favorite of the Ashgabat public, sweet and smiling Aybolek Mukhiyeva filled the concert hall with magical musical images. This musical trio - a conductor father, a violinist daughter and Tchaikovsky made their listeners forget about the daily routine and monotonous everyday life. Talented Aybolek, despite her lunar name, illuminated everyone with warmth throughout the evening like the spring sun.

The brass guys performed no less talentedly. The famous "Destan-concert" by Chary Nurymov with soloists Nepes Dzhumageldyev and Kuvvat Orazov told about the victory of good over evil. Just like in nature, the harsh winter always gives in to the life-giving spring. How subtly Chary Nurymov felt all this! Every note in his score sings about it.

The trombone solo from the opera "Eugene Onegin" performed by Dovran Gylydzhov was unusually melodic and emotional. The trombone is considered one of the most difficult wind instruments. Composers assign it to enter moments of orchestral culminations to emphasize the power and fill the sound. And here is such a melodiousness.

The concert was a success thanks to the efforts of all the musicians, but, above all, thanks to the hard work of conductor and head of the orchestra Nury Mukhiyev, who is rightfully considered one of the best conductors in the country, and has been working at the conservatory for many years. Over the years of his work, more than one generation of musicians in the orchestra has changed, but each of them knows that with maestro Mukhiyev they are on the right path - the path of devoted service to art.
