For the first time in the history of Central Asia, the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly will be held in Tashkent

The 150th anniversary assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) will be held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, from April 5th to 9th, 2025. This event will mark the first occasion in the history of Central Asia for hosting such an assembly and is expected to convene approximately 2,000 delegates from 181 countries, including 15 observer states and over 25 international organizations.

The central theme of the assembly is "Parliamentary action for social development and justice". Participants will engage in discussions on crucial issues such as poverty reduction, the creation of decent working conditions, and the promotion of social inclusion. The opening of the forum is scheduled to take place with the participation of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

This event underscores the increasing significance of Central Asia on the international stage and the region's aspiration for active involvement in global processes.

The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), founded in 1889, stands as the first multilateral political organization uniting national parliaments and fostering international cooperation.
