President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey Alparslan Bayraktar, who arrived in Turkmenistan at the head of the delegation to participate in the International Conference "International Year of Peace and Trust: The Role of Interregional Economic Cooperation in Ensuring Sustainable Development".

Alparslan Bayraktar conveyed cordial greetings from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the head of state, emphasizing that Turkey attaches great importance to strengthening effective cooperation with Turkmenistan in various fields.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the results of the international forum will give a powerful impetus to further expansion and deepening of interstate cooperation, especially in the energy sector, TDH reports.

During the meeting, the parties noted that the fraternal Turkmen-Turkish relations with a rich history serve as a solid foundation for the successful implementation of joint projects in the political, economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. Active interaction in the energy sector is a vivid example of this.

Turkey is one of the leading trade and economic partners of Turkmenistan and occupies a leading position in the country's foreign trade turnover. In this context, the significant opportunity for developing fruitful bilateral and regional ties in the fuel and energy, transport and communications, agricultural and investment sectors was also emphasized.

The head of state confirmed the readiness of Turkmenistan, which has rich natural resources, to further intensify partnership with Turkey in the energy sector. Currently, one of the most important issues is the supply of Turkmen gas to Turkey and its further transit to other interested countries.

In addition, it was noted that Turkish companies are successfully implementing a number of projects on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the construction of a combined cycle power plant will create conditions for the export of Turkmen electricity through the Caspian Sea, including to Turkey. He also confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to consider specific proposals from the Turkish side on other issues of mutual interest and to support the constructive initiatives of Turkish partners.
