China marks the second anniversary of the launch of its initiative calling for respect for the diversity of civilizations

Two years ago, China proposed the Global Civilization Initiative. It was put forward by President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China at a conference attended by the Communist Party of China and world political parties. The initiative proposes respecting the diversity of civilizations, promoting the common values of humanity, emphasizing the importance of the heritage of different cultures, and encouraging active international exchanges.

It also calls for equality, mutual learning, and dialogue among civilizations. It states that peace, development, equity, justice, democracy, and freedom are the common aspirations of all humankind. The initiative calls for an unbiased attitude towards differences between civilizations, refraining from imposing one's own values or models on others and from inciting ideological confrontation.

It also underscores the necessity of considering the historical context and the existence of different cultures. The initiative encourages countries to creatively transform and innovate their traditional cultures. It calls for expanding people-to-people contacts, deepening exchanges and cooperation, as it is necessary to create a global network for dialogue among civilizations.

This initiative is part of China's efforts to promote global governance. Its launch followed the Global Development Initiative in 2021 and the Global Security Initiative in 2022.
