The world community discussed the role of interregional economic cooperation in Ashgabat
20.03.2025 | 06:30 |The International Conference "International Year of Peace and Trust: The Role of Interregional Economic Cooperation in Ensuring Sustainable Development" was held with great success in Ashgabat.
The significance of the forum, held in the significant year of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, which was also declared the International Year of Peace and Trust, was given by the personal participation of National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who made a policy statement.
In his speech, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan views peace and trust as key factors in economic development, calling for the use of this year to intensify international economic cooperation based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit and trust. He emphasized that the successful implementation of large-scale economic projects directly depends on these principles and requires a global approach with the active involvement of international institutions to create a fair geo-economic environment.
The conference was attended by the Chairman of the Mejlis, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads and representatives of ministries and departments, public organizations, government agencies and large companies from many countries, authoritative international structures and financial institutions, as well as heads of diplomatic missions.
The forum's intensive program included thematic sessions devoted to the most pressing issues of regional and international economic cooperation. The first session focused on the geopolitical and geoeconomic significance of key energy, transport and infrastructure projects in Central and South Asia. Then, the participants continued working in sessions devoted to the strategic Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and related economic, organizational and legal aspects, as well as the role and significance of the construction of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission lines in strengthening international economic cooperation. Special attention was paid to issues of transport interconnection in the regions of Central and South Asia and the participation of financial institutions in the implementation of promising economic projects in these regions.
At the end of the fruitful work of the International Conference "International Year of Peace and Trust: The Role of Interregional Economic Cooperation in Ensuring Sustainable Development", the Final Document was adopted, reflecting the key agreements and intentions of the participants.
On the sidelines of the forum, bilateral meetings of the heads of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan with their foreign colleagues took place, during which priority areas of mutually beneficial cooperation for the near and long term were discussed in detail.
