The economic census provides a comprehensive overview of the country's secondary (industry, energy, construction) and tertiary (services, finance and insurance, public administration, science, and education) sectors, and also provides valuable information on its socio-economic development.
China conducted four national economic censuses in 2004, 2008, 2013, and 2018, respectively, and officially launched the fifth in 2023.
