Oriented on making people closer

On December 27, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a presentation of a collection of poems by Magtymguly Fragi translated into Italian.

The event brought together diplomats, scientists, teachers, students and journalists. Among the speakers were rector of the institute Gulshat Yusupova, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Italy Toyly Komekov, Charge d'Affaires of Italy in Turkmenistan Carmelo Leo, as well as famous scientists and cultural figures. Ivan Melkumyan, a lecturer at the University of Rome for International Studies UNINT, joined the event via video link.

"I am sure that those who read, study and explore the newly published book in Italian will not only become interested in Magtymguly's work, but will also fall in love with the Turkmen language, because when you read the works in Italian, you already feel how wonderful it sounds in Turkmen. Of course, I will give our students the opportunity to hear these works, because I have no doubt that this will be the first step in their desire not only to learn, get acquainted with the history and culture of the East and Turkmenistan, but also to do everything necessary to study this wonderful, beautiful Turkmen language," Melkumyan said.

The participants of the presentation paid special attention to the fact that the poet's works, which have long become part of the world literary heritage, are heard in many languages. The Italian translation, carried out by orientalists with the support of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, includes 130 poems that convey the depth and beauty of the master's thought.

Participants noted that Magtymguly's work is a hymn to freedom and unity of the people, and translations of his poems serve as a key to mutual understanding between cultures.

The speakers expressed confidence that the new edition will not only popularize the poet's work abroad, but also contribute to strengthening friendship and trust between peoples, which is especially important in the modern world.
