Turkish Airlines has been included in the Guinness World Records
28.12.2024 | 14:20 |Turkish Airlines (THY), which has held the title of the airline operating flights to the most countries in the world since 2012, has registered this achievement in the Guinness World Records. THY has entered the Guinness World Records under the category "Airline with the most destinations in the world."
Following the airline’s first flight to Santiago, Chile’s Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport, the Guinness World Records certificate was presented to THY's CEO, Bilal Ekşi.
In his speech during the ceremony, attended by representatives from Guinness World Records and THY executives, Ekşi expressed his joy at being in Santiago, the new destination for the airline.
He mentioned that as the only airline holding this privilege for over 10 years, THY proudly showcases the breadth of its flight network. Ekşi said, "We are strengthening our mission to connect people, cultures, and destinations worldwide."
According to the criteria of Guinness World Records, Turkish Airlines set the record by operating flights to 120 countries, reflecting only active routes in the past 12 months. Taking into account temporarily suspended routes and the first flight to Chile, which took place on December 19, Turkish Airlines' network now covers 131 countries.
