The exclusive right to the topology of microcircuits was reduced in Turkmenistan to 10 years
08.06.2023 | 17:51 |The exclusive right to the topology of integrated circuits in Turkmenistan is now 10 years old, which corresponds to international legal standards.
The topology of integrated circuits is the interconnected elements of microcircuits on a material carrier (computers, laptops, counters, and so on).
The new provision follows from the law signed by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, TDH reports. Text of the new law was published today in the official Turkmen press.
According to the document, which is designed to provide legal protection of integrated circuits, a similar law that preceded it from 1994 has lost its force. Previously, the exclusive right to the topology of microcircuits in the country was held by its creator throughout his life and 50 years after his death.
The new law states that now such a right will be 10 years after the creation of the topology. After the expiration of the term, the topology goes into the public domain and everyone will be able to use it freely. This provision is provided for in many countries of the world, including the USA, Russia, Europe and Central Asia.
