Turkmenistan at Hiroshima and Nagasaki Commemorative Events

Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan Atadurdy Bayramov took part in events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Mourning ceremonies were held on August 6 in Hiroshima and on August 9 in Nagasaki.

The commemorative events were attended by high-ranking officials, including Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, members of the Cabinet, the leadership and members of the Japanese Diet, as well as representatives of international organizations and heads of diplomatic missions accredited in the country.

The central theme of the commemorative events was the call to renounce the use of nuclear weapons and end international conflicts. The leadership of the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki appealed to the heads of state with an appeal to create new security structures based on trust and dialogue.

Following the events, a peace declaration was adopted, which contains a number of important initiatives. It calls on the Japanese government to sign and ratify the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and asks world leaders to present a concrete "road map" for the elimination of nuclear weapons at the 2026 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference, the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
