On Sunday morning, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in Budapest on a working visit, met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

The Hungarian Telegraph Agency, MTI, notes that the meeting is of particular importance from the point of view of Hungary's energy security, as negotiations are underway with Turkmenistan on a comprehensive agreement on cooperation in the field of energy, an essential element of which is that Hungary should become one of the target countries for the future export of Turkmen gas.

At the meeting, it was noted that there are still untapped opportunities in bilateral relations for expanding cooperation in the fields of healthcare, pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, food industry, water management, as well as in the field of education and culture.

The President of Turkmenistan congratulated the Hungarian people on the national holiday – St. Stephen's Day, which is celebrated on August 20.
