

Turkmenistan and the UN: 30 years of constructive cooperation

When forming its approaches to the problem of ensuring universal security, Turkmenistan is based on the fundamental concept of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov about the integrity and indivisibility of this concept, both in the geopolitical sense and in terms of the interconnectedness of its specific aspects.


From March 2 – 4, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia held a regional workshop in Tashkent for the Heads of Investigation Units of the Border Guard and Law Enforcement Agencies from Central Asian countries.

UN Deputy Secretary General Vladimir Voronkov, speaking at the International Conference "Regional Cooperation of the Central Asian Countries in the Implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy", said that the countries of the region have already assumed great responsibility in preventing the spread of terroristic threats.


Today, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s accession to the United Nations, the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed a new project “Conservation and Sustainable Management of Land Resources and High Nature Value Ecosystems in the Aral Sea Basin for Multiple Benefits”, funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), which will be implemented jointly by UNDP and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan.


This competition focuses on designing and implementing research on water resources, environment, and other related areas, including integrated water resources management (IWRM) and promoting the Water-Energy-Food-Environment (WEFE) nexus approach.


The children's health and rehabilitation center, which is being built on the territory of the new administrative center of the Akhal region, will be transferred to the balance of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and assigned to the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation.
