Electric trains may appear in Turkmenistan

Electric locomotives and trains may appear in Turkmenistan. This follows from the instruction of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to create electrified railways in the country.
"The head of the [Transport and Communications Agency Mammetkhan Chakyev] was instructed to prepare appropriate proposals for the construction of electrified railways to increase the potential of this sector," TDH writes in a material dedicated to the expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday, at which the results of 2022 were discussed.
Electric trains are mainly designed to transport passengers between city districts and, in some cases, regions. Electrified railways can also be used for the movement of cars in the subway.
The President of Turkmenistan also instructed the head of the Transport and Communications Agency to continue replenishing the fleet of vehicles with both conventional cars and electric vehicles.
