Turkmen experts study Italy's experience in developing energy parks

Experts from Turkmenistan visited Italy to learn about best practices in developing energy technology parks. The study tour, organized by the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, took place from September 22 to 24.

Representatives of the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan met with their Italian counterparts from the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission and the Polytechnic University of Milan. They discussed the organizational, legal, and technological aspects of energy parks.

The highlight of the visit was a visit to the Parco Scientifico Tecnologico per l'Ambiente (Ecological Scientific and Technological Park) in Turin. Established in the late 1990s, the park is one of Europe's leading centers for the development of environmental and clean technologies. Built on the site of former industrial facilities, it currently brings together over 600 specialists in renewable energy, innovation, and environmental sustainability. The park serves as a model for the successful transformation of old industrial zones into modern research centers.

According to Olivera Đurovac-Kuzman, a specialist at the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, the visit was organized as part of Turkmenistan's support for the development of its renewable energy sector. She noted that the event is particularly relevant in light of Turkmenistan's recently adopted Law on Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency.
