Turkmen delegation in Japan: textiles and trade are the main topics of negotiations
05.09.2025 | 00:57 |The Turkmen delegation headed by the Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations Nazar Agakhanov made a working visit to Japan. From August 30 to September 3, representatives of Turkmenistan held a number of meetings in Tokyo and Osaka aimed at expanding trade partnerships and promoting Turkmen textiles in the Japanese market.
In Tokyo, a meeting with Chairman of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee on Economic Cooperation Hiroyuki Tsubai, who also holds the position of Executive Vice President of ITOCHU Corporation was held. The parties discussed opportunities for Japanese companies in Turkmenistan, the development of export-import relations. In addition, the Minister met with President of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Norihiko Ishiguro.
During the visit, special attention was paid to the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, where the delegation visited the national pavilion of Turkmenistan. Here, negotiations were held with representatives of the leadership of the Japan EXPO 2025 Association, as well as with the commissioners of the pavilions of Saudi Arabia and Qatar. At meetings with Japanese companies, initiatives to promote Turkmen textile products to the Japanese market were discussed.
Overall, the visit showed that Turkmenistan and Japan are interested in deepening economic cooperation and are ready to take specific steps to expand bilateral ties.
