New Chinese Ambassador Ji Shumin Arrives in Turkmenistan to Take Up Duty
20.07.2025 | 22:13 |On July 19, new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Turkmenistan Ji Shumin arrived in Ashgabat with his wife to take up duty.
At the Ashgabat International Airport, the Chinese diplomat was met by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, as well as high-ranking officials of the Chinese Embassy in Turkmenistan.
Ambassador Ji Shumin said that it was a great honor for him to be appointed head of the Chinese diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan. He especially noted that under the strategic leadership of the top leadership of both countries, the China-Turkmenistan comprehensive strategic partnership is maintained at a high level, and cooperation in various fields continues to deepen.
As the new Ambassador, Ji Shumin expressed his willingness to work with all sectors of the Turkmen side to implement the important consensus reached by the heads of the two states, deepen practical cooperation, promote humanitarian exchanges, and work together to build a closer China-Turkmen community with a common future.
The officials warmly welcomed the arrival of Ambassador Ji Shumin, stressing that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to cooperation with China. The Turkmen side expressed its willingness to fully support the new Ambassador in fulfilling his duties, promoting the further development of Turkmen-Chinese relations for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
Background Information
*Ji Shumin was born in May 1972. Prior to his appointment to Turkmenistan, he served as Deputy Director of the Department of Europe and Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and was also the Chinese Ambassador to Tajikistan.
