Diplomatic Marathon: Turkmenistan Steps Up Preparations for UN Conference in Avaza

In anticipation of an important international event — the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), which will be held in August this year in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan is conducting intensive preparations at the international level. In recent days, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov has held a series of telephone conversations with his counterparts from different regions of the world.

The conversations, which took place on July 1 and 2 alone, covered a wide geographical scope — from Kazakhstan and Malawi to Mali, the Central African Republic, Burkina Faso and Niger. Each dialogue, in addition to discussing bilateral relations, was focused on detailed preparations for the upcoming LLDC3 Conference.

The focus of the calls on a single topic – preparations for LLDC3 – underscores the strategic importance of this forum for Turkmenistan and the global community. Communication with foreign ministers from such geographically diverse countries as Mali, the Central African Republic, Burkina Faso, Niger (representing the African continent) and Kazakhstan (Central Asia), as well as Malawi, demonstrates the breadth of Turkmenistan’s diplomatic influence: Ashgabat actively engages key players and stakeholders from around the world.

Turkmenistan seeks to ensure the broadest possible representation and take into account the views of countries that will most directly face the issues discussed at the conference.

At the same time, these calls are part of a diplomatic campaign aimed at setting the agenda, coordinating positions and confirming high-level participation.

In each call, in addition to the central topic of LLDC3, the ministers also discussed prospects for the development of bilateral relations – from economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation to interaction within multilateral structures such as the UN and the OIC. This demonstrates Turkmenistan’s comprehensive approach, where preparations for major international events are harmoniously combined with strengthening bilateral ties.

The commitment to expanding cooperation in various areas of mutual interest noted in the conversations and the similarity of approaches to issues on the international agenda create a solid foundation for the successful holding of the conference in Avaza.

This diplomatic marathon emphasizes the role of Turkmenistan as an active and responsible participant in the world community, which not only initiates important international platforms, but also makes every effort to fill them with content and successfully implement them.
