Year of Peace and Trust: Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry Announces Agenda for International Forums in March
10.03.2025 | 23:30 |Turkmenistan is preparing to hold a series of major international forums dedicated to key aspects of the global and regional agenda in the context of the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of the country's neutrality. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov at a briefing held on March 10 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The briefing, which brought together heads and employees of diplomatic missions, representatives of international organizations and the media, was devoted to an overview of the upcoming international events in March, organized by the Government of Turkmenistan in cooperation with international organizations.
Opening the meeting, Minister Rashid Meredov recalled that the International Year of Peace and Trust was launched in January, and the first significant event was held at the UN headquarters in New York with the participation of representatives of more than 100 countries. He expressed gratitude to the UN representatives, diplomats and employees of international organizations for their active participation in these efforts.
The head of the Foreign Ministry spoke about the systematic work carried out by Turkmenistan for the practical implementation of the UN General Assembly resolution proclaiming 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust. He said that in early January, the President of Turkmenistan approved the composition of the State Organizational Commission headed by National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The Commission approved relevant programs and work plans, including a plan for international events in Turkmenistan and abroad.
As the Minister noted, in the first two months of this year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, together with foreign partners, has already held 44 events in Turkmenistan, abroad and at the sites of international organizations dedicated to the Year of Peace and Trust.
In his speech, Rashid Meredov paid special attention to the announcement of key international events planned in Ashgabat in March.
The first in this series will be the conference "International Year of Peace and Trust: The Role of Interregional Economic Cooperation in Ensuring Sustainable Development", which will be held on March 19.
In the Concept of Activities and Priorities of Turkmenistan in the International Year of Peace and Trust, an important place is occupied by the problems of security and sustainable development in their close interrelation. At the same time, special attention is paid to continental security, one of the main factors for ensuring which is close interaction between regions, the Minister emphasized, justifying the initiative to hold the conference.
More than 200 participants representing government agencies, international organizations, financial institutions and the business community from countries not only in Asia, but also on other continents have been invited to the forum. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan outlined the key topics of the conference, inviting diplomats and representatives of international organizations to actively engage in an interested dialogue. Among them:
Geopolitical and geoeconomic importance of energy, transport and infrastructure projects in Central and South Asia: Rashid Meredov emphasized the important role of large-scale projects in creating a powerful economic belt linking the regions of Central and South Asia and meeting the interests of many countries on the continent.
Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline: economic, organizational and legal issues: TAPI is a major transcontinental energy project designed to provide gas to countries with a population of almost 2 billion people, and the conference will create a platform for exchanging opinions among executives and experts from energy companies, banks and consulting firms.
The role and importance of the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission line in strengthening international economic cooperation: noting the active work of the Central Asian countries to supply electricity to adjacent regions, Rashid Meredov expressed confidence that the discussion of this topic will contribute to the development of international energy cooperation.
Transport interconnectivity of the regions of Central and South Asia: development projects: the Minister emphasized the relevance of creating new and effective use of existing transport and transit corridors between Asia and Europe and invited large transport companies and financial institutions to a productive discussion of this topic.
Participation of financial institutions in the implementation of economic projects in Central and South Asia: Rashid Meredov noted that the success of large regional projects largely depends on financial mechanisms and called on representatives of the financial sector to actively present their ideas and proposals.
The second most important event of March will be the international conference "Year of Peace and Trust: Development of International Humanitarian Activities", which will be held on March 29 in the city of Arkadag. The event is organized by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship.
Turkmenistan considers the International Year of Peace and Trust as the most important period in the humanization of international relations, and the priorities in this area are support for motherhood and childhood, creation of conditions for the development of children and youth, provision of humanitarian aid to people. Meredov emphasized the importance of active interaction with UN structures in the humanitarian direction and the high role of the Charitable Foundation in achieving these goals.
The Minister invited state and public structures of foreign countries, representatives of international organizations to take part in the conference in Arkadag and outlined the main areas of its work:
Healthcare, provision of medical care to children: the forum will become a platform for exchanging experience and searching for new methods in the field of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of childhood diseases.
Education, provision of educational services to children and adolescents: Turkmenistan is ready to share national experience and study the best international practices in the educational sphere.
Climate change and children: the minister emphasized the relevance of issues of adaptation to climate change and reducing its negative impact on children, as well as the importance of environmental education and support for children in the context of global environmental challenges.

At the end of the briefing, Rashid Meredov announced the organization of a ministerial meeting "Central Asia - European Union" in Ashgabat ahead of the first summit "Central Asia - EU", emphasizing the importance of the interview of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to the Euronews TV channel for promoting Turkmenistan's position on key issues of world politics.
