CIS to establish core organizations for pediatric and adult traumatology and orthopedics

The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will establish two new core organizations specializing in pediatric and adult traumatology and orthopedics.

This decision was reached during a meeting of expert groups held on February 27, 2025, in Moscow. The primary objective of these organizations is to coordinate research, education, and methodological activities within the specified fields. This is particularly relevant in light of the increasing prevalence of musculoskeletal diseases and injuries in both children and adults.

The initiative to create these core organizations originated from the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. The Ministry proposed designating the G.I. Turner National Medical Research Center for Pediatric Traumatology and Orthopedics as the core organization for CIS member states in the field of pediatric traumatology and orthopedics, and the N.N. Priorov National Medical Research Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics as the core organization for CIS member states in the field of adult traumatology and orthopedics. It is anticipated that these organizations will contribute to improving the quality of medical care and facilitating the exchange of expertise among specialists from CIS countries, thereby enhancing the overall level of healthcare services in the region.
