Artificial Intelligence to be integrated into Kazakhstan's school curriculum
07.02.2025 | 23:10 |Elements of artificial intelligence have been incorporated into the new educational standard set to take effect in 2026. Ruslan Karatabanov, Vice President of the National Academy of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, shared details on the changes awaiting school programs, Kazinform reports.
"In Kazakhstan, a new educational standard has been approved, which will be implemented in 2026. It takes into account contemporary demands, such as the emergence of artificial intelligence. AI is a driving force in global development, and therefore, it cannot be ignored. There are concerns that AI may displace a number of professions, turning them into “veteran professions”, while new ones will emerge. In any case, AI is currently a tool that we must teach our children to use", stated Ruslan Karatabanov on the sidelines of the Ministry of Education's board meeting.
According to him, the new standard introduces various AI-based tools and work methods into the curricula of different subjects.
"For example, in biology, chemistry, and physics, this involves virtual laboratories. In languages, it includes various applications that enable conversation and dialogue. In geography, it encompasses navigation systems. Currently, people primarily focus on generative AI, but we are integrating both generative and non-generative AI", the Vice President of the Academy clarified.
