Sakarchage etrap of the Mary velayat has been recognized as the best etrap (district) in Turkmenistan. This is based on the results of the competition held among the etraps and cities with the rights of etraps in the velayats. Sakarchage etrap achieved the best results in social, economic, and cultural indicators in 2024.

The results of the competition, which were summarized by a special commission, were reported by Oguljennet Berdiliyeva, Chairperson of the National Trade Union Center, at a meeting of the Turkmen government on Friday.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree declaring Sakarchage etrap of the Mary velayat the winner of this competition and awarding the hakimlik of this etrap a cash prize of 1 million USD.

In accordance with another decree of the head of state, another competition for a prize of 1 million USD has been announced - among the etraps of the velayats and cities with the rights of etraps, as well as the etraps of the city of Ashgabat for achieving the best results in all social, economic, and cultural indicators by the end of 2025.
