The Geographical Council of the Turkic States has been established
09.05.2023 | 13:41 |Geographical societies of Uzbekistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan signed an agreement in Tashkent on the establishment of the Geographical Council of the Turkic States, the National News Agency of Uzbekistan reports.
The purpose of the creation of the Council is to further improve comprehensive cooperation between research institutes and public associations of Turkic-speaking countries, including organizations and institutions engaged in theoretical or practical work in the field of geography, local history and other related sciences.
The document also provides for joint work to strengthen geographical and environmental knowledge of the public, popularization of advanced scientific ideas and achievements.
The head of the Geographical Society of Uzbekistan, Oybek Norinbayev, was elected Secretary General of the new structure for three years. The headquarters of the council will be located in Tashkent. The new council will participate in various international projects, including science, education, environmental education, economic approach, expansion of cooperation in the field of culture and tourism.
"The created council allows conducting scientific research and exchanging experience between member states. At the same time, innovations in the field of geography and the exchange of science news will be launched. Scientific work is being carried out to study the impact of climate change on the natural and social environment," Deputy Chairman of the Geographical Society of Uzbekistan Shavkat Sharipov said.
