 The new President of Switzerland Karin Keller-Sutter assumed office

On January 1, Karin Keller-Sutter, the Swiss Minister of Finance, began her term as the President of the country, with her term set to end at the end of 2025, according to TASS.

In December of the previous year, it was announced in the country’s parliament that Keller-Sutter had been elected as the head of state for 2025. She officially took office on January 1, succeeding the country’s Minister of Defense, Viola Amherd.

In Switzerland, Karin Keller-Sutter is considered one of the most influential politicians. As Minister of Finance, she has been noted for taking a number of effective measures to maintain a stable situation.

Keller-Sutter was born in 1963 into a Catholic family. She studied translation at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences and later completed postgraduate studies in pedagogy at the University of Fribourg. Before embarking on her political career in 1992, she worked as a schoolteacher.
