On Thursday, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov got acquainted with the state of affairs at new buildings in Ashgabat by flying around in a helicopter and visited a new site for laying the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat autobahn.

The honorary elders who spoke at the extraordinary meeting of the People's Council (Halk maslahaty) supported the decision of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to actively involve young people in leadership positions, the Watan program of the Turkmen State Radio and Television reports.

President Berdimuhamedov, speaking at an extended meeting of the country's Cabinet of Ministers on Friday, called the development of the oil and gas industry and innovations in the processing of hydrocarbons the main directions of Turkmenistan's economic growth.
