International Deep Space Exploration Association Founded in China

On July 7, a ceremony was held in the Chinese city of Hefei (Anhui Province) to mark the establishment of the International Deep Space Exploration Association (IDSEA) — the first international organization of its kind aimed at coordinating and advancing research in the exploration of the Moon, planets, asteroids, and deep space.

The association was founded with the participation of the China National Space Administration (CNSA), the Chinese Society of Astronautics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and several international partners, including the French scientific initiative Horizon 2061. The headquarters of IDSEA is located in Anhui Province.

Wu Weiren, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the chief designer of China’s lunar program, was elected president of the association.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of scientific institutions, international organizations, diplomatic missions, and the space sector. IDSEA aims to promote knowledge exchange, collaboration in fundamental research, and support for global scientific missions related to deep space exploration.
