Oriented on making people closer

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, in an interview with the Qatari newspaper Al Sharq following a meeting with Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, voiced a number of proposals aimed at intensifying bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

According to Rashid Meredov, in order to strengthen cooperation in the gas sector, the Turkmen side proposed organizing a working visit of the delegation of Turkmenistan to Qatar. In turn, Qatar will send a delegation of investors to Turkmenistan to discuss investment opportunities related to the Turgundi-Herat railway project.

A working visit of a Qatar Airways delegation to Turkmenistan will also be organized to develop cooperation in the field of transport and logistics.

In addition, Rashid Meredov put forward an initiative to hold Qatar Culture Days in Turkmenistan, which, in his opinion, will allow the Turkmen people to get to know the rich history of art and culture of Qatar and strengthen fraternal relations between the two countries.

In his interview with Al Sharq, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan highly appreciated the results of the meeting with the Emir of Qatar, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome. He also noted the significant achievements of Qatar at the local and international levels, emphasizing the common views of the two countries on peace issues and the importance of dialogue in international relations.

Rashid Meredov emphasized that Turkmenistan is ready to further develop comprehensive cooperation with Qatar, based on the principles of equality, openness and trust.
