New facilities of the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan opened in Mary
02.09.2025 | 00:28 |A large-scale opening ceremony of new facilities of the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan took place in Mary on September 1. Students and teachers greeted the beginning of the academic year with updated infrastructure - an additional educational building, a dormitory, an indoor sports complex, as well as the Monument of Clean Energy - "Täze kuwwat" were commissioned.
The ceremonial event was attended by the hyakim of the Mary velayat, representatives of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, deputies of the Mejlis, members of local governments, public organizations, the media, as well as foreign partners. Among the guests were also respected aksakals of the region.
The construction of the new buildings was carried out by the private enterprise "Röwşen" to order of the Ministry of Energy. The educational building is designed for 2,000 students and is equipped with the latest technology: 18 classrooms for 50-80 seats; 28 classrooms for practical classes; 6 computer and 6 language labs; 57 laboratories with equipment from leading companies in Germany, Spain, Italy and China.
An entire scientific and educational cluster has been created here: The Renewable Energy Research and Production Center, a library and an electronic library, IT technology halls, a robotics and artificial intelligence center, a cyber sports hall, and conference halls for 500 and 100 people.
The unique equipment includes an experimental device from the Spanish company EDIBON SCADA System, which allows simulating the operation of steam turbine units at power plants, and a KUKA robot from the German company LUCAS-NUELLE for teaching industrial automation technologies.
Particular attention is paid to "green" technologies. Solar panels with a capacity of 132 kW are installed on the roof of the building, providing lighting for the building. The rainwater collection and purification system is used to irrigate the institute's territory. A wind power plant (30 kW) and a solar station (15 kW), also connected to the lighting system are located next to the Clean Energy Monument.
The four-story dormitory is designed for 800 students and is equipped with everything necessary for study and recreation. The new indoor sports complex combines a spacious sports hall and a modern gym with foreign equipment.
At the opening ceremony, the new facilities received recognition from international organizations. The UNESCO Institute for Informatics and ICT in Education presented a certificate of appreciation for the introduction of digital technologies in education. The Latvian Sustainable Building Council and UNDP awarded "green" certificates for energy efficiency, the use of renewable energy sources and sustainable solutions in water use. The German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) noted the project for the introduction of innovative technologies in the educational environment.
Memorandums of Understanding with the Clausthal University of Technology and the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg (Germany) were signed in the conference hall. This opens up new prospects for joint research projects and student exchanges.
Thus, the new facilities of the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan have become another step forward in the development of “green” education, integration of science and production, and international academic cooperation.
