Turkmenistan - United Kingdom: Development of Cooperation in Education
07.03.2025 | 18:15 |Currently, cooperation in education between Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom is actively developing. Recently, the Turkmen delegation met with the leadership of Coventry University during its visit to the United Kingdom. The purpose of the visit was to participate in the next meeting of the Turkmen-British Joint Trade and Industrial Council. The main topics of the negotiations were the expansion of academic cooperation, the exchange of experience in higher education and the introduction of advanced educational technologies.
The Turkmen delegation visited the London branch of Coventry University, where they got acquainted with educational programs that meet international standards. Particular attention was paid to innovative teaching methods, the introduction of digital technologies in the educational process, as well as close cooperation between the university and industrial and business structures.
It should be noted that during the visit of the United Kingdom Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Development to Turkmenistan in April 2024, it was emphasized that educational cooperation is one of the key areas of bilateral relations. As part of this visit, the high-ranking guest was received by the President of Turkmenistan. The meeting discussed issues of developing educational cooperation, including the creation of targeted educational programs and the expansion of English language teaching.
Subsequently, several video conferences and working meetings were held with representatives of British universities, business circles and the British Council. These discussions opened up new prospects for cooperation and contributed to the development of further bilateral ties.
The meeting at Coventry University became one of the significant events within the framework of educational cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UK. Representatives of the British university proposed a number of initiatives to introduce digital technologies into the educational process and develop interaction with the industrial sector.
Coventry University is included in the prestigious international rankings Times Higher Education and QS Education Ranking. It has significant international experience and has branches in Egypt, Morocco, Poland, Kazakhstan, Algeria and South-East Asia.
During the meeting with Director of the School of Management at Coventry University in London, Dr. Joanna Voulgaropoulou, the main focus was on cooperation in postgraduate programs. The University offers flexible master's and bachelor's programs in marketing, economics, finance, management and global business.
In addition, during the meeting, specific issues were discussed:
-The possibility of Turkmen students participating in the international alumni network and the university's educational platform.
-Support for foreign students, including organizing English language courses and resolving employment issues based on cooperation with large London companies.
-Master's programs in such areas as international marketing, digital marketing and data analysis, global economics, banking and finance.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed interest in continuing the negotiations and organizing expert consultations for a detailed study of possible forms of cooperation.
The Turkmen delegation emphasized the importance of studying international experience in the field of higher education and expressed readiness for further negotiations and exchange of opinions.
