Kazakhstan to modernize border checkpoints with China, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan

Kazakhstan will completely modernize border checkpoints with China, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, essentially building new infrastructure in their place, the press service of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic reported. As a result, the carrying capacity of border crossings will increase at least sixfold.

“In order to develop the country’s transit potential and increase trade turnover with neighboring countries, the Government has begun a full-scale modernization of border checkpoints with the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. ... The modernization includes, in fact, the construction of new border checkpoints with the demolition of old infrastructure that did not meet modern requirements,” the State Revenue Committee of the Republic explained.

This will create all the conditions for comfortable border crossing and high-quality state control, increase the capacity of automobile crossings sixfold and, thanks to the automation of the entire cycle of goods movement, reduce the border crossing time to 30 minutes.
