Turkmenistan and TURKSOY plan new initiatives
15.11.2024 | 20:00 |On Friday, November 15, it was held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) Sultan Rayev. At the meeting, they noted the intensification of bilateral relations in recent years and discussed prospects for dialogue.
Rashid Meredov expressed gratitude on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty, for the efforts of TURKSOY to popularize Turkmen culture and strengthen ties between the Turkic peoples.
In 2024, TURKSOY held more than 40 events dedicated to significant dates, including the announcement of 2024 as the "Year of the great poet and thinker of the Turkic world – Magtymguly Fragi", the 300th anniversary of the birth of the classic of literature, etc.
Among the key events of the year, there were noted the celebrations on the occasion of the announcement of Anau as the cultural capital of the Turkic world, the 2nd Theatre Festival of the TURKSOY member countries, the 1st Biennial of Fine Arts of the Turkic world, meetings of museum directors and writers of the TURKSOY member countries, and the Gorkut ata International Film Festival.
On Saturday, November 16, the final events on the occasion of assigning Anau the honorary status, as well as a meeting of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of the TURKSOY member countries and a concert of artists will be held.
Meredov and Rayev paid special attention to organizing joint events scheduled for 2025, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
The Secretary General of TURKSOY asked to present the book "Anau - a culture from the depths of millennia", published in Turkish, to the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty. Sultan Rayev also presented the Turkmen side with collections of works by finalists of the art and essay competitions organized by TURKSOY.
Rashid Meredov emphasized that Turkmenistan considers TURKSOY as an important link between ISESCO and UNESCO, noting the organization's contribution to the development of new cooperation formats, including meetings of the National Commissions for UNESCO of TURKSOY member states.
In conclusion, the parties noted the fruitfulness of interaction aimed at preserving and popularizing the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples.
