Turkmenistan and the UK strengthen cooperation in the field of education
14.11.2024 | 16:55 |On November 14, Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Azat Atayev met with Regional Director for Export for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Sarah Chidgey at the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. The parties discussed the possibilities of strengthening cooperation in the field of education between Turkmenistan and the UK.
Sarah Chidgey shared the successful experience of the UK in the field of quality education, presented in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. She noted that a number of British universities, including the University of Westminster, are interested in expanding cooperation with Turkmenistan and providing educational services in the field of higher education. The possibilities of providing educational services in the field of secondary education through accreditation of Turkmen educational institutions were also discussed. In this regard, Chidgey spoke in detail about how this process was successfully implemented in neighboring countries.
In addition, Ms. Chidgey informed that early next year it is planned to hold the Turkmen-British Trade and Industry Council, within the framework of which education issues will also be discussed. She also stressed that the UK is interested in holding more detailed talks on education cooperation at the World Education Forum, which takes place annually in May in London.
In turn, Azat Atayev expressed interest in the aforementioned projects and supported the initiative to develop educational cooperation. As a first step, the parties agreed to consider the possibility of organizing joint webinars that will be aimed at a detailed study of UK educational standards, accreditation and licensing procedures, as well as quality assurance methods.
According to Atayev, such seminars will identify specific and detailed issues related to the British educational system that need to be studied. He also added that by May, the parties will be able to discuss step-by-step cooperation in more detail, paying attention to each aspect for the successful implementation of the project.
