 Turkmenistan and Japan discussed prospects for inter-parliamentary cooperation

In the building of the House of Representatives of Japan, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Tokyo, Atadurdy Bayramov, met with the Chairman of the Parliamentary League of Japanese-Turkmen Friendship, Toshiaki Endo.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the importance of inter-parliamentary relations as a key area for expanding partnership between Turkmenistan and Japan. One of the notable examples of active exchange has been the regular contacts and meetings of the parliamentary friendship groups from two countries.

The relevance of the initiative by the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to hold a Meeting of the Heads of Parliaments of Central Asian countries and Japan in Ashgabat was also emphasized, according to the Embassy’s statement.

The sides emphasized the significant potential of the Turkmen-Japanese dialogue in the political-diplomatic, parliamentary, trade-economic and humanitarian spheres.

In May of this year, Toshiaki Endo, a member of the House of Representatives of the Japanese Parliament and head of the Japanese-Turkmen inter-parliamentary friendship group, held talks during his visit to Ashgabat in the Turkmen parliament and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

On 1 October, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov met with the Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for Central Asia and Caucasus Affairs, Mr. Ishikawa Masaki.
